What is Hypnotherapy and will it help?
Hypnosis can be compared to an enjoyable and very deep relaxation allowing the client to enjoy increased focus and self-awareness. Unlike other therapies, hypnotherapy works with the subconscious mind, which is often where the root of many of our problems lay, caused by too much stress and anxiety, negative beliefs and patterns of behaviour.
When looking for a hypnotherapist check that they have a recognised qualification and are a member of a recognised professional register as at present, anyone can set up in practice as a hypnotherapist, without undergoing any formal training.
I have trained with the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy (NCHP), up to level three standard and is registered with the NRHP to Assoc 3 level.
Your initial consultation –
The free initial consultation is an integral part of your therapy. It gives you the opportunity to explain what is it you want to change in your life which enables us then to formulate your therapy specifically for you. It is a good time for you to allay any fears or misconceptions and also gives us a realistic timeframe as to how many sessions you will need. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your therapy.
How much will it cost me? –
The average cost per session is £45 Sessions can be variable (weekly/ fortnightly/monthly or varying dependant on need/situation.
What happens in a Hypnotherapy session?
As said earlier, generally you would be invited to relax in an armchair or couch and then be guided into a state of deep physical and mental relaxation. You will NOT lose consciousness and you will NOT be made to do anything that you do not wish to do. You will generally still be aware of your surroundings and can choose to come out of hypnosis at any time. Under hypnosis you will be given a tailor made set of suggestions to assist you with your specific situation. You will then be gently returned to the normal state of alertness.
